Gearing up for the National Stationery Show with Hollowbrooklyn

It's a busy time of year for all of us at Reich Paper as we prepare for the 2016 National Sationery Show at the Javits Center here in NYC.  It's the place to be for all things paper - from greeting cards, custom invitations, gift wrap and journals, to lifestyle gifts – and everything in between.  We have worked this show for over ten years and always look forward to sharing our newest paper innovations and products with the creative and design professionals who attend.

This year our display and handouts were designed by our customer service rep Darcy.  We all pitched in with our suggestions, helping with production and getting everything ready, but Darcy spearheaded the design, drawing inspiration from our Reich Paper SHINE, a versatile stock of shimmering metalics that are luminous and luxurious.       Darcy works for Reich Paper by day but is also the chief visionary and owner of Hollowbrooklyn by night.  Their paper and fabric goods are all designed, printed and crafted by hand in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.                       We talked to Darcy about her design process for our booth, asked about her inspiration and learned why she feels paper so so essential to the creative process.  Here is what she had to say...
The original inspiration table

NSS 2016 is right around the corner and this year we’ve put together a handcrafted display that really shines. My intention with this year’s display is to inspire people to look beyond the two dimensions of paper and showcase the expressive qualities that paper is able to achieve through texture and color.

Shine's luxurious paper in Violet Satin, Pearl, Iron Satin and Copper

This display has been created with a focus on contrasting dimensions and colors – the colors are balanced and soft the shapes expressive and pure. It was important for me to create an atmosphere that captured the essence of Reich Paper’s sensibilities in both color and shape.

Over one hundred gems were hand cut, scored, folded and assembled together to form a suspended three dimensional pattern. The neutral grey geometric backdrop subtly resembles a pointed flap envelope and is featured prominently in our printed give away.

Hello from Brooklyn was an especially fun design for me personally, being born and raised in Brooklyn it’s always important for me to represent those roots. Paper is an essential everyday tool that doesn’t have to take a backseat to technology. I hope that attendees walk away with a reinvigorated idea of what paper means to them in their everyday lives. Please come see all of these ideas at our booth #2578 and see how Reich Paper inspires you.
